Sarah “Louise” (Allen) Egan

ARIMO – Louise Egan, 94, peacefully passed away Thursday, February 24, 2011, at the home of her daughter Vicki Reece in McCammon, Idaho.
Louise was the firstborn child of Lewis and Clara Allen on October 22, 1916 in Robin, Idaho. Louise was raised in Hawkins Basin and graduated from Arimo High School in 1934.
Louise married Alva H. Egan June 6, 1934, in Pocatello, Idaho and resided for a short time in Jerome and Emmett. They returned to Marsh Center where they eventually purchased his Grandmother Gunter’s farm and raised their family. She lived in the family home until the past several months. The marriage of Alva and Louise was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple December 18, 1965. They were married for 65 years before Alva passed away in June 1995.
During her lifetime, Louise has been an active member of the LDS Church. Over the years she has served in leadership positions in all of the organizations of the church. She has also been an active member of the Daughter of the Utah Pioneers organization. For years she worked in the Arimo Stake History Center doing genealogy work for the church.
She served the community for several years as the chairman of the Junior division at the South Bannock County Fair in Downey and worked for the Arimo precinct during the elections. Her hobbies included quilting, sewing, crocheting and gardening. As she became adept at each of these, she shared her talents with her family and friends.
Louise is survived by her four children: Bill (Kathy) Egan of Arimo; Linda (Brad) Morrison of Morgan, Utah; Vicki (Bill) Reece of McCammon; and Nancy (Charles) Lasley of Boise. Also, surviving her are her sisters: Arlene Lusk and Claudine (Darrell) Wharton, both of Pocatello. She adored her 13 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis George and Clara Belle (Glover) Allen; an infant son; one sister, Bernice Rowe; and two brothers, Darrell and Clayton Allen.
The family would like to thank neighbors, friends, and extended family for their prayers and kindness, and Alliance Home Care and Hospice for their loving and kind care in her time of need.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 28 at 12 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Arimo Stake Center.
