On Friday, October 24th at 11:59 pm, Sara Melinda Hill Stocks (91) passed peacefully. She heard her sweetheart, Frank, asking her for a dance so she went to join him. Sara was born on May 17, 1923 in Rock Hill, South Carolina. She is survived by her three children, Steven Stocks, Kathy Bailey and Robert Stocks; her sister, Connie in Georgia; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Our mom was from the Greatest Generation. A child of the Depression and an officer in the Army Nursing Corps during WWII. She retired an RN from Rancho Los Amigos Hospital in Downey, CA. Dad and Mom moved to Malad after Dad’s retirement from Safeway and spent the rest of their lives happy and active in Malad. We feel blessed to have had this loving, sassy, spitfire of a woman in our lives. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 31, 2014 at 12 noon in the Malad LDS 4th Ward Chapel, 20 S. 100 W. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday evening from 6:00-7:00 p.m. and on Friday morning from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N. Burial will follow in the Malad City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Malad American Legion, Ernest W. Jones, Post #65.
