Ruth Waldron Gibbs

Washington City – Ruth Waldron Gibbs, age 82, died Friday, February 28, 1992, at the Dixie Regional Medical Center. She was born October 22, 1909, in Samaria, Idaho, a daughter of Levi Gilispie and Sara Eliza Thomas Waldron. She married Ralph C. Gibbs in the Salt Lake Temple January 23, 1929.


Ruth was reared and educated in Malad City, Idaho. After marrying, she has lived in Malad, Idaho, Hamilton, Montana and many areas of Utah, California, Arizona, Iowa and New Mexico. After retirement, they came to Washington City in 1979. Ruth enjoyed sewing crocheting, knitting, making quilts and being a grandmother. She was an active member of the LDS Church, mostly working in the Primary, Sunday School and as a Visiting Teacher.


Survivors include her husband, Ralph C. Gibbs, Washington; two daughters, Mrs. Stanley (Dorothy) Oldland and Mrs. Lona Wolf, both of Washington; 4 Grandchildren; 7 Great-Grandchildren; four sisters, Beth Apgood, Sandy, Utah, Edith Williams, Salt Lake City, Katie Frazer, Brigham City, Meryl McKissic, Bay City, Texas; two brothers, Jack Waldron, Tooele, and Cenious Waldron of Morgan. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn Ruth Gibbs and a son Ralph Terrill Gibbs.


Funeral services will be held Monday, March 2, 1992, 11:00 AM at the Washington First Ward Chapel on Main Street. Friends may call at the Spilsbury-Desert Rose Mortuary, Sunday evening from 7:00 til 8:00, and also at the Ward Chapel, one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the Washington City Cemetery.
