Royce Chivers Jones

Royce Chivers Jones, longtime Malad businessman and avid supporter of Malad High School athletics, passed away at age 90 on Monday, December 12, 2016.

He was born January 9, 1926 in Malad, the son of Melvin Royce and Ella Von Chivers Jones. He married Anna Lou Daniels on July 30, 1945. Together they owned and operated Jones Confectionary until Annie passed away November 18, 1992. He continued running the business until 2000 when he retired.

Royce was a proud member of the Ernest W. Jones American Legion Post #65. This past year he received his pin for seventy continuous years as a member.

He is survived by his four children, Barry R. Jones, Daryl D. Jones (Kathy), Terri Ann John {Larry) and Fred J. Jones (Mylene), thirteen grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren with one on the way. He is also survived by his sister, Betty Daniels and two brother-in-laws, Jess Daniels and Wayne Williams.

He was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Neva and Milton Crump, and in-laws John V. and Lola Evans, Dan Daniels, Kay Williams, two grandchildren, Amanda Jones and Lance John and one great grandchild, Kelsi Ann Carter.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 17 at 12 noon in the Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday morning from 10:30-11:45 a.m. prior to the service.
