Ronald Dean Harris

Ronald Dean Harris, 66, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday morning, November 26, 2017, after a brave, two-year battle with cancer.
Ron was born January 22, 1951, to Jack and Helen (Bowen) Harris in Jerome, Idaho. He and his family moved to Boise in 1966, and he graduated from Borah High School in 1969. While attending Boise State College, he began dating his future wife, Becky Jean Smith. They were married 46 years ago on August 14, 1971.
Ron was a natural athlete who played baseball, basketball, football, and golf during his school years. Throughout his life he enjoyed spending time with family and friend’s rifle hunting, bow hunting, traveling, camping, and four-wheeling. Most of all, he excelled at and loved to play golf.
Ron spent his career in furniture and appliance sales. The final chapter of his working career was in advertising and management at Commercial Home Furnishings. He felt very fortunate that he was able to retire nine years ago, giving him even more time to play golf with family and friends.
Ron will be remembered for the friendships and memories he made with people he cherished. Whether it was his annual hunting trips to Soda Springs, his weekend golf-getaways to his cabin at Terrace Lakes, or showing off the vegetables he raised in his garden, he enjoyed his life and lived each day to the fullest.
Ron was preceded in death by his father Jack Harris. He is survived by his mother, Helen; wife, Becky; daughter, Tanya; son and daughter-in-law, Justin and Maile; and his brothers, Thayne and Curt and their families.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 9, at Summers Funeral Home, 1205 W. Bannock, Boise.
