Rolland James Pett

Rolland James Pett was born April 10, 1945, in Malad City, Idaho. He passed away on June 21, 2020, in Salem, Oregon.

James was baptized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Malad City, Idaho. He graduated from Malad High School, where he learned diesel mechanics. He continued his education at Idaho State University, where he graduated in business. He then received a calling from the LDS Church to serve a mission and served in Australia where he touched many lives, baptized many and helped those in need.

James married the love of his life, Neva Jean Waldron, and they were sealed in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. They were married for 51 years. They lived their lives in the Holbrook Valley to raise their family of four, Shad James, Misty Jean, Bradley Denton and Chris Christensen. After 17 years, they moved to Salem, Oregon and watched their children grow.

Jim worked on becoming a realtor, where he worked up to become a broker and was a pillar of the community for 33 years. He also joined the Foreign Exchange Program through the LDS Church and was a foster parent for 17 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents Martin Christensen and Blanche Wilcox Pett; sister Mary Barraclough; niece Nancy Barraclough and his eldest son, Shad James Pett.

He leaves behind his eldest brother, David Pett; wife Neva Jean (Waldron) Pett; daughter Misty Jean (Steven) Patterson; son Bradley Denton (Layla) Pett and son Chris Christensen Pett. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild and many, many nieces and nephews.

Jim lived his life with a firm hand, loving heart and giving spirit as the Lord has guided him.

His viewing was held at the Masons & Son Mortuary in McMinnville, Oregon on Friday, June 24, 2020, and his funeral was held Saturday, June 25, 2020, at the Evergreen Park in McMinnville, Oregon.
