Rodney Lynn Rose

Rodney Lynn Rose of Layton, Utah and formerly of Buhl, Idaho and Canby, Oregon passed away on February 23, 2014 at the age of 68. Rodney was born on November 7, 1945 in Clearfield, Utah and grew up on a dry farm in Arbon and in Malad where the family made their winter home. Rodney graduated from Malad High School in 1964 and briefly attended Utah State University before enlisting in the Air Force. While stationed at Lowry Air Base in Denver, Colorado, Rodney met and later married Geraldine Gow. They raised three children before they divorced in 1997. Throughout his life, Rodney was self-employed as a custom cutter, truck driver, truck broker, masonry contractor, painter, sandblaster, and galvanizer. He spent the last part of his life developing and providing equipment and training for auto body rust repair with his brother and long-time business partner, Garry. Rodney loved soaking in hot springs and flying his Cessna 170 to remote airstrips and camping out under the wing. Rodney is preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Hellen Rose. He is survived by brothers Darrell Rose of Tucson, Arizona, and Garry (Janice) Rose of Layton, Utah, sister Jeanine Rose of Pocatello, and his children Stephanie (Chuck) Rose-Prince of Filer, Jason (Molly) Rose of Rexburg, and Jennifer (James) Rose-Smith of Seattle, Washington, and eight grandchildren, Madison, Noah, Charlotte, Robert, Clara, Oscar, Willa, and Harriet. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 3 at 11:00 am in the Horsley Funeral Home. Friends may visit with the family on Monday morning from 9:30-10:45 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Horsley Funeral Home.
