Robert “Bob” Hadley

Robert “Bob” Hadley, 89, lifetime resident of Swan Lake Idaho, passed away January 21st at the Heritage Home in Preston Idaho. Robert was born in Swan Lake Idaho October 19, 1924 to Alma Hadley and Elizabeth Panting Hadley. He was the youngest of eight children. He attended school in Swan Lake Idaho and Downey Idaho. After high school Bob went to Pocatello and worked on servicing P-39 planes. He was then drafted into the Army in 1944. He served in Europe in the Artillery Division. After Robert was released from the Army he returned to Swan Lake. He met Gwen Seamons and they were married August 24, 1946. They were later endowed in the Logan Temple May 4, 1964. Robert and Gwen made their home in Swan Lake Idaho and he worked his entire life on the family farm. He enjoyed working cattle, riding horses, fishing and hunting. Robert served on many organizations the American Legion, Secretary of the Swan Lake Cemetery District, Bannock County Zoning Board, Marsh Valley School Board, Secretary and President of the Cottonwood Grazing Association and a member of Downey Ogden Grain Board. Because of his love of airplanes he received his plot license and owned a plane with a flying club in Downey Idaho. Robert is survived by his wife Gwen and their children Kent (Suzanne) Hadley, of Swan Lake. Marsha (Brain) Ryder of Portland OR, Janet (Grant) Sorenson Salt Lake City UT, Betty Jo (Dan) Combe of Brigham City UT. Robert was preceded in death by daughter Maryanne his parents, 2 brothers and 4 sisters. Robert has 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Special heart felt thank you to Access Hospice and Home Health, Heritage Home and Dr. David Beckstead. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 25 at 12 noon in the Swan Lake LDS Chapel. Friends may visit with the family this evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the church and again on Saturday morning from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Swan Lake Cemetery with Military rites performed by the Downey American Legion, Post #21. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Horsley’s Marsh Valley Funeral Home.
