Richard Devar Christensen

DOWNEY – Richard Devar Christensen passed away on June 2, 2004 in Pocatello, Idaho. He was born November 6, 1930 in Downey, Idaho to Milo and Nellie Christensen.

He married Virginia Bright on January 25, 1952 in the Logan, Utah temple.

He worked first as a sign crew foreman and later as an engineering technician in the traffic office at the Idaho Transportation Dept. for 34 years; he also owned a ranch in Virginia, Idaho, which he continued to operate after retiring from the Highway Department.

He loved horses and raised several throughout the years. He was an avid basketball fan, enjoyed traveling throughout the country viewing scenic area, and loved watching western movies.

Richard was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served in various callings, including quorum instructor and assistant, Sunday School presidency and instructor, a counselor in the bishopric and bishop of the Virginia Ward from 1989-1994.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years; three sons, Greg (Trudy), Boise, Morgan (Leslie), Shelley, Ron (Annette), Salt lake City; ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; his mother, Nellie, Downey; and two brothers, Roger (Marilyn), Soda Springs, Kirt (Margaret), Centerville. He was preceded in death by one son, his father, Milo and a brother, Marvin.

Funeral services will be June 7 in the Arimo, Idaho LDS Stake Chapel. Interment will be in the Downey City Cemetery.
