Reed W. McBride

Reed W. McBride 1940-2014 – Reed Wright McBride, 74, passed away on April 3, 2014 in Malad, Idaho from heart complications. Reed was born on February 13th in Hyrum, Utah, to Charles and Lula Wright McBride. Raised in Hyrum, Utah, he then graduated from South Cache High and Weber State College. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He married Ardella Leatham on September 29, 1958, and to this union was born Wayne (Susan) McBride, Sherrie (Matthew) Phelps, Darrus (Lisa) McBride, and Robbie (Joannie) McBride. Later divorced, he then married Shirley Westley on November 30th, 1978, and added three daughters to their family, Cindy Jorgensen, Wendy Head and Lori Gilbert. Reed was a horseman, rancher, dry farmer and worked for 36 years at Thiokol Chemical Corporation before retiring in 1996. He enjoyed spending winters in Overton, Nevada. He was known as Pale Rider among the Willow Creek Free Trappers at Rendezvous. Reed is survived by his wife Shirley, his children, his brother Warren (Trena), brothers-in-law LaMar (Denise) Westley, Clyde (Monie) Westley, Gary Ryan, Aunt Elva, 34 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Proceeded in death by Courtney Phelps, granddaughter and Josh Angerman, grandson.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at 11:00 am in the Malad LDS 5th Ward Chapel 20 So. 100 W.  Friends may visit with the family on Monday evening from 6:00-7:30  pm at the Horsley Funeral Home 132 W. 300 N. and on Tuesday at the funeral home from 9:30-10:30 am.  Burial will follow in the Hyrum, Utah Cemetery.
