Ray Sheldon Crowther

Ray Sheldon Crowther passed away June 20, 2018 in Orem, Utah. He was born in Malad, Idaho, September 11, 1933, son of Junius L. Crowther and Mary Dredge Crowther. He married Sharolyn Adkins from Logan, West Virginia, June 5, 1956 in the Logan, Utah Temple.

Ray was and Eagle Scout and worked at Crowther Brothers Mill while attending school at Malad. He the attended Utah State University. He was interested in athletics. He attended Brigham Young University in Provo and was called to serve a mission to the East Central States. Ray served in the U.S. Army in Hamburg Germany for 2 years.

Ray was blessed with a beautiful singing voice and was know as “The Tony Bennet of Idaho” where he performed in many dinner clubs. He also became a very popular singer in Phoenix, Arizona. He made records with George Liberache and sang for the armed forces with Lawrence Welk at the Hollywood Paladium.

Ray worked for Thiokol chemical corporation on the minute man missile project near Brigham, City. He also worked in management for Reynolds Metals in Phoenix, Arizona.

Ray is Survived by his wife Sharolyn and his two sons Kerry and Chris of Orem UT, his daughter Sheri Kernal of Palmdale, California, Two sisters, Rosemary (Leo) Wilcox, Farmington Utah, Vella (Keith) Perkins, Orem Utah.

Funeral services will be held Saturday June 30, 2018 at 12 Noon in the Timpview 5th Ward LDS Chapel Located at 865 West 1000 North, Orem, Utah. A viewing for friends and family will be held Saturday prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery with Military Rites.
