Randy A. Jones

Malad…Randy A. Jones, 59, of Malad and husband of Jane Bosworth Jones, celebrated his life by leaving this earthly existence on Sunday, February 8, 2009, and entering the presence of his Father in Heaven. Randy was born in Malad, Idaho on November 18, 1949, the youngest child of Vernon A. and Zelma Atkinson Jones.

He was educated in Malad and was a graduate of Malad High School, class of 1968, where he was active in baseball and a standout in basketball.. He later graduated from Idaho State University, with a degree in accounting.

Randy loved ranching and farming. Many good memories were made when Randy and his dad bought a ranch in Downey. Together, they worked hard running between Downey and Malad to get all their work done. Farming with his father was lots of laughs, good times, great learning experience, and a time that gained much love and respect for each other. Randy loved the Downey ranch and he especially loved the Downey people. He left the Downey ranch in 1984 and moved his family to Smoot, Wyoming. there he worked for J.R. Simplot Co. and the Smokey Mountain Mine in accounting and later was the Human Resource Manager.

He loved the outdoors and one of the best fishing trips was to Alaska with family and friends. Two of his many accomplishments came in obtaining his pilots license and in building his own log home in Malad in 2000.

Randy was a loving husband, father and grandfather, a devoted friend and an amazing example of optimism, courage and gratitude for all his blessings and challenges, including his battle with cancer. He was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was a high priest in the Malad LDS 1st Ward. Randy and Jane Bosworth were married on July 23, 1978 and their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple Feb. 28, 1986.

He is survived by his wife, Jane of Malad; children; Preston Jones of Malad; Jeness (Casey) Saxton of Pinedale, Wyoming; Stepsons; Darin (Loni), Layne and Marty Lish, all of Pocatello.12 grandchildren; a sister; Connie (Ned) Lewis of Malad and a brother; Ronley (Debbie) Jones of Phoenix, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother in law Ross Bosworth, parents in law; Don and Helene Bosworth and a grandson Mason Collins.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at 12 noon in the Malad LDS Stake Chapel 1250 N. 1100 W. Friends may visit with the Jones family on Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm at the Horsley Funeral Home 132 W. 300 N. in Malad, and on Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home from 10:30-11:30 am. Burial will follow in the Malad City Cemetery.
