Phyllis Waldron Price

Phyllis Waldron Price, 85 from Samaria ID, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Saturday April 5, 2014. Phyllis was born June 26th, 1928 In Samaria, Idaho, the oldest child of eight, born to Nathaniel Acie Waldron and Leah Chandler.  Phyllis went to school in Samaria and graduated from MaladHigh School in 1946.  She went to one year of college in Pocatello, and then married her sweetheart Evan Platt Price on December 29, 1947 in the LoganTemple. Phyllis and Platt lived in Los AngelesCalifornia where he attended DieselSchool and she worked as a secretary for one year then moved back to Malad.  They were blessed with 4 children: Kenneth Platt, Dale Waldron, Phyllis Helena, and Ruthann.  In 1964 they bought her father’s farm and moved back to Samaria where they lived for the remainder of their lives.

 Her daughter, Helena, was born with special needs; she took care of her for 37 years.  Phyllis was a big instigator in starting the specials needs program for the school.  She had to help with a lot of fundraisers to get the money needed to start the program.

Phyllis was always busy.  She sold Avon, then went to work at the OneidaCountyHospital as a Nurses Aid for 25 years.  She was loved and appreciated for her hard work, dedication and compassion.  After her retirement Phyllis and Platt enjoyed the warm weather during winter months in Arizona and Nevada traveling in their trailer.

She had many callings in the church; Primary Teacher, Scout Leader, President of the Primary, Young Women and Relief Society, and extraction coordinator.  She loved to write histories. She gave every job she had her best.

She was preceded in death by her husband Platt, her daughter Helena, her son Kenneth, 2 brothers Acie and James, and her parents.  She is survived by 1 son Dale (Lynette) of Samaria, 1 daughter Ruthann (Dennis) Weeks of Howe, and a daughter-in-law Nedra Price of American Falls.  13 Grandchildren, who were the joy of her life, and 34 great grandchildren.  5 sisters Mada Waters, Leahmae Erickson, Helen Green and Gwen Evans.  1 brother LaMonte Waldron.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday April 12, 2014 at 12 noon in the Malad LDS 2nd Ward Chapel, 20 S. 100 W.  Friends may visit with the family on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N. and from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the services on Saturday.  Burial will follow in the Samaria Cemetery.  Condolences may be sent to www.horsleyfuneralhome.com
