Percy Richardson Bybee

DOWNEY – Percy Richardson Bybee, 92, of Downey, ID passed away May 4, 2002 in Jerome, ID at the home of Scott and Ann Bybee (grandson and granddaughter in law).

He was born January 28, 1910 at Cambridge, Bannock, ID, the son of Joseph Absalom Bybee and Catherine Emmaline Richardson Bybee. He was raised and educated in Cambridge, graduating from the Cambridge School.

Percy married Olive Lurie Bloxham September 26, 1928 in Pocatello, Bannock, ID. Their marriage was later sealed in the Logan, UT LDS Temple on March 3, 1964.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in which he held various positions such as home teacher, ward choir member, ward dance director, asst. Scout master, second counselor and president in the presidency of the first quorum of elders, president of investigators Sunday school class, high priest, high priest group leader, Arimo, ID stake missionary, second counselor in the Downey First Ward bishopric, McCammon Stake canning chairman, Boy Scout drive chairman and chairman over temple assignments. In addition, he loved serving in the Logan Temple.

He retired from Pacific Fruit Express as an employee of 25 years. He had also been an employee for the Sego Milk Company.

His hobbies included hunting, fishing, baseball, dancing, gardening and playing the harmonica. His favorite place to be was home.

Percy wanted to be remembered for being a good father. He is survived by his four children, Vernal (Jeannette) Bybee of Twin Falls; Geri Barlow of Pocatello; Nona (Gary) Dahmer, Pocatello; and Sheila Bernard of Salt Lake City, UT. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild (also a second great-great grandchild anticipated in December). He was preceded in death by his companion of 71 years and four months, Olive Lurie Bloxham Bybee.

Funeral services will be held May 10, 2002 in the Downey LDS Ward Chapel. Burial will be in the Cambridge Cemetery. Arrangements are by Horsley’s Marsh Valley Funeral Home, Arimo.
