Funeral Tuesday For Mrs. Brown

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Pleasantview LDS Ward Chapel for Mrs. Pearl Layilla Duncan Brown, age 79, who died Saturday afternoon, June 5, (1965), in a Pocatello rest home.

Services were conducted by Bishop Roger Facer of the Pleasantview Ward. Family prayer at the funeral home was offered by Arch Brown and services at the chapel included organ prelude and postlude, Iris Barker; invocation, Jonah M. Evans; remarks, Bishop Facer; vocal, Relief Society Singing Mothers directed by Edith Facer; life sketch and tribute, Mary Rose Jones; trumpet solo, Vernon Buffalo; speaker Bishop John Roderick; vocal duet, Carol and Don Eliason; speaker, Eric Hogan; vocal, Bertha Gae Court; benediction, Parry Ipsen. Accompanists were Janiel Brown, Lorraine Court, Patsy Bybee and Donette Eliason.

Concluding rites were at the Pleasantview Cemetery where Howard C. Bennett dedicated the grave. Flowers were carried by Mrs. Brown’s grandchildren under the supervision of the Pleasantview Relief Society. Casket bearers were grandsons of Mrs. Brown; Ray Court, Grant Court, Mike Brown, Wayne Buffaloe, Jimmy Brown, Roy Brown, Boyd Brown, Darrell Buffaloe.

Services were directed by the Benson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Brown was born August 23, 1885, at Centerville, Utah, a daughter of Archibald and Olive Jane Rice Duncan.

She married Henry Columbus Brown, Oct. 25, 1905, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mr. Brown died in 1935.

She attended school in Centerville and moved to Pleasantview in 1910. She was a member of the LDS Church and was a practical nurse.

Survivors include five sons and four daughters: Archie Brown, Salt Lake City; Jesse Duncan Brown and Leo Henry Brown, both Malad; Owen Kelly Brown, Viet Nam; William Moroni Brown, Ogden; Mrs. Bertha Ann Court, Magna, Utah; Mrs. Afton Buffaloe and Mrs. Ada Buffaloe, both Pocatello, and Mrs. Ida Bennett, Preston; 35 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; a brother and a sister, Austin Duncan, Centerville, Utah, and Mrs. Afton D. Fullmer, Abraham, Utah.
