Paul Rex Evans

POCATELLO – Paul Rex Evans, 85, passed away at his home on July 30, 1998.

He was born June 6, 1913, in Downey, Idaho, to Charles William and Mary Jane Owens Evans. He was raised and educated in the Malad, Downey area, graduating in 1931.

Paul married Helen Mary Nisson September 3, 1936, in th Salt Lake City Temple. She died in 1978. He later married Vera May Criddle Burrup on August 3, 1979, in Logan, Utah. He worked for the UPRR, and at the time of his retirement, he was a clerk.

He was a member of the 46th Ward LDS Church. He served on the Elders Quorum as a high Priest Quorum Leader and home teacher. He enjoyed his garden very much.

He is survived by his wife, Vera of Pocatello; three sons, Dennis Rex (Valora) Evans of Idaho Falls; Paul Dale (LinJiang) Evans of Columbus, Ohio; Ronald Ray Evans of Atlanta, Ga.; a daughter, Helen Renee (Deloy) Bench of Blackfoot; two stepsons, Hall C. Burrup of West Jordan, Utah; Lyle J. (Necia) Burrup of Sandy, Utah; three step-daughters, Crystal (Douglas) Young of Sierra Vista, Arizona; Louis K. Brown of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Karma (John) Merzlock of Pocatello; one brother, Charles Lynn Evans of Apache Junction, Arizona; two sisters-in-laws, Gladys Evans of Malad; Irene Evans of Apache Junction, Arizona; 41 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen; three brothers, Thomas Cecil Evans, John Owens Evans and Delos Owens Evans; and a sister, Ruth Irene Christensen.
