Orene L. Brower

DOWNEY, Ida-Orene L. Brower, 78 of Downey, and husband of Idonna Bennett Brower, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday evening, March 7, 2000.
He was born January 21, 1922, in Burley, Idaho, a son of Elbert Ariah and Henrietta Larsen Brower.
Orene was raised in Lava Hot Springs, a graduate of Lava Hot Springs High School class of 1940. He also attended one year at the Idaho State Technical College.
He began employment with the Union Pacific Railroad in 1940, and retired in 1983, after 42 years of service.
Orene served his country during World War II in the Air Force, where he flew 51 bomber missions over Germany as a tail gunner. He was honorably discharged with the rank of staff sergeant.
On June 4, 1946, he married Idonna Merline Bennett in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple.
Orene enjoyed being a member of the Bear Lake Rangers and the Cache Valley Good Sams Club. He loved hunting, fishing and traveling. He and Idonna served as missionaries to the Ohio-Cleveland mission, and also served as officiators in the Logan and Mesa, Ariz., LDS temples.
He is survived by his loving wife, of Downey; and four children, Elbert Richard (Fran) Brower of Gilbert, Ariz., Connie Marie (Bill) Jons of Arimo, Orene Lynn (Leisha) Brower of Liberty, Idaho and Debra Merline Brower of Las Vegas, Nevada; also 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Erwin L. (Virginia) Brower of Klamath Falls, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Keith and Dell Brower, two sisters, Maxine Nickel and Vicki Evans.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2000, at 11 a.m. in the Downey LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call at Horsley’s Marsh Valley Funeral Home, 570 N. Meadowview Drive, Arimo, on Friday evening (tonight) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Clifton Cemetery.
