Nephi B. “Bud” John

Malad-Nephi B. “Bud” John, 84 of Malad, died Sept. 24, in Malad.
He was born April 29, 1908 in Malad, son of Nephi and Mary Mede Thomas John. He was raised and educated in Malad. He married Elma Swartz, June 20 1934 in Brigham City, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.
He had worked as a farmer, in construction and remodeling. He had also worked for the soil conservation district and the railroad. For 39 years he was employed with the Crowthers Mill, retiring in 1969. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he held the office of high priest and he served as a home teacher and secretary in the senior Aaronic priesthood. He had a great love for children and was loved in return.
Survived by his wife of Malad; one son and daughter-in-law, Don and Judy Johns, Blackfoot; a daughter and son-in-law, David and Fairlene Reid, Tuston, Calif.; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be held Monday at 12 p.m. at the Malad LDS 4th Ward Chapel with Bishop Wendell Smith officiating. Friends may call at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home in Malad this evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Monday prior to services. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery.
