Nellie Beard Illum

Services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Malad St. John L.D.S. Ward for Mrs. Nellie Beard IlLum, 73, who died Sunday afternoon at the Oneida Hospital of a heart ailment.
Bishop Melvin Yearsley officiated at the services under the direction of the Benson Funeral Home.
Family prayer at the funeral home was offered by LaMar Thomas. Invocation was given by D. Dredge Thomas and the bene-diction by Nolan Blaisdell. Musical numbers were prelude and postlude, Lysle Deschamps; vocal solo, Helen E. Jones; organ solo, Cherrel Budge; vocal solo, Eldon Corbridge. Accompanist was Cherrel Budge. Speakers were G. Howard Neal, Ren Dives and Bishop Yearsley who gave the obituary.
Concluding rites were at the St. John Cemetery where Raiford G. Benson dedicated the grave. Flowers were carried by the St. John Relief Society and Royal Neighbors with the casket bearers being Brent Ilium, Terald Illum, John South, Reed Madsen, Keith Dudley and Wallace Nicholas.
Mrs. Illum was born March 7, 1890, at Ferydale, Wales, a daughter of Herbert Charles and Hester Fry Beard.
She was married to Sevil F. Illum October 22, 1913, at Malad City. He died November 5. 1955.
Mrs. Illum came to the United States when she was 12 years old and lived in Boston. She came to Malad where her family took up a homestead on the St. John Bench.
A member of the Presbyterian Church, she belonged to the First Ward LDS Relief Society; was a member of the Rebecca Lodge and Royal Neighbors.
Survivors are three sons and two daughters: Fred S. Blum, Warrenton, Oregon; DeVere Illum and Elmer W. Blum, both Malad; Mrs. Tony D. (Beth) Nelson, Burns, Oregon; Mrs. Ross D. (Nellie) Nelson, Ogden; 14 grandchildren; two brothers and one sister: Ralph Beard, Vancouver, Wash.; Victor Beard, Wa-shougal, Wash.; and Mrs. Florence Thorpe, Hawthorne, Calif.
