Nelden H. Baker

BAKER, NELDEN H., August 5, 1929 – April 20, 2008

Nelden H. Baker, 78, passed away April 20, 2008 in Salt Lake City, Utah, after a 26 year battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was born August 5, 1929 in Boise, Idaho to LaDean Haws and Witt Lewis Baker. He married Connie Jayne Davis on July 16, 1955, and they were sealed on March 29, 1965 in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. They resided in Holbrook, Idaho and are the parents of seven children. After retirement they lived in Utah.

He graduated from Malad High School, attended Utah State University and served in the United States Army for two years.

Nelden enjoyed good music, singing, mining, and hunting. He was a hard worker and farmed in the Holbrook Valley. As a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he enjoyed serving in many callings.

Nelden was a most compassionate, loving person and a great example to all. He found the greatest joy as a father and husband and was a blessing to his wife and children despite his illness. He will be missed by his family and all whose lives he touched. He is survived by his wife, Connie Jayne, Lehi; children; Cynthia (Cameron) Lane, North Carolina; Julie (Gary) Bagley, Ore; Burke Baker, Lehi; Wendy (Brad) Hess, Malad; Lance Baker, Provo; Branden (Michelle) Baker, Payson; Nedra (Cody) Meister, Orem. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and waiting for the arrival of two. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Billy, a sister Jean, and granddaughter Tiffany Baker.

Funeral services will be held on April 24 at 12:00 noon in the Malad LDS 2nd Ward Chapel. Burial will follow at the Malad City Cemetery, military rites performed by the American Legion Ernest W. Jones Post #65.
