Nancy Dawn Failoni Colton

Nancy Dawn Failoni Colton was born to Matt and Donna Failoni on May 12, 1955 in Kemmerer, WY, the second of four daughters. They lived in a small log home built by Nancy’s father in Nugget, WY, which didn’t even have electricity until 1960. Without sons, the girls were the ranch hands, and Nancy was no exception. She was the best at chasing cows and had a special friendship with her paternal grandmother.

The family resided on the family ranch until 1971, when they moved into Kemmerer, where Nancy attended grade school and high school, and was very active in the marching band, FHA and NHS.

She attended college at the University of Wyoming, where she studied speech pathology and special education, and was member of the University of Wyoming Marching Band. She was always a good student.

Nancy took great pride in her education and work and began her teaching career in Medicine Bow, WY; then later moving to Marbelton, WY to continue her teaching career. She loved the students she taught and always put them first. She loved each and every one of them.

She married Joseph Wayne Colton, formerly of Malad, ID on November 19, 1988 in the Logan LDS Temple. Into this union, three children were born; son John and wife, Sabrina; daughter, Mary and husband, Tyrel, and daughter, Haylee.

Nancy’s lifelong dreams cam =e true when she had her family. She followed her children in their activities, and gave selflessly to her family and anyone else who needed it. As recently as two weeks ago, she went to the state fair with Baylee, never complaining that she was hurting or too sick to go.

On August 21, 2012, Nancy’s hard fought battle with cancer ended. She was a true survivor. She proved them wrong more than once.

Nancy is survived by her husband, three children, one step-son and daughter-in-law, one son-in-law, mother, three sisters, one sister-in-law, three brothers-in-laws and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, father-in-law, mother-in-law, one brother-in-law, and both maternal and paternal grandparents.

Nancy’s family would like to thank everyone for the love and support that she has received throughout the last few years. She couldn’t have been surrounded by better people.
