Myrna Kaye Hill Moses

BLACKFOOT – Myrna Kaye Hill Moses, 58-year old Blackfoot resident, Morning News publisher, died Saturday, October 31, 1998 at her home from causes due to cancer.

She was born September 5, 1940 in Malad, Idaho, the daughter of Matthew and Edna Elzira Croney Hill. She grew up in Malad in her early years. She was a graduate from Malad High School in 1958.

She married Venoy Dayton and was blessed with three children from the marriage. They were later divorced. She later married Roger Moses on September 26, 1992 in Blackfoot, Idaho.

Kaye had lived in he Blackfoot area for the past 30 years, and during that time had worked for the Morning News in various capacities, and retired just recently as publisher of the paper, due to ill health.

She was a member of the LDS Church, the Kiwanis Club, a member of the board for the Blackfoot Chamber of Commerce. The Blackfoot Kiwanis recently honored Kaye with a Distinguished Service Award after years of involvement with the community. In 1996 the Blackfoot Chamber of Commerce presented her with its Best Foot Forward award.

She loved to go horseback riding and being in the mountains. She played on a woman’s softball team, enjoyed water skiing, and especially being with her family and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Roger of Blackfoot; two sons, Kim Dayton and Mike (Lynne) Dayton, and a daughter Jana Hale, all of Blackfoot; stepson, Scott (Bonnie) Moses, Jackson, Wyo; and stepdaughter, Stephanie (James) Liddle, Idaho Falls; her mother, Edna Hill, Malad, Idaho; two brothers, Gary (Kate) Hill an Steve (Thel) Hill, both of Malad; three sisters, Teri (Ed) Ahrers, Seattle, Wash.; Colleen Hess, Garland, Utah, and Tami (James) Shagowski, Nephi, Utah; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 3, 1998 at 11 a.m. at the Rose LDS Church, north of Blackfoot, with Bishop Gerald “Skip” Yancey conducting. The family will meet with friends this evening from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Hill, Hawker and Sandberg Funeral Home, Blackfoot, and again on Tuesday at the church for an hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Grove City Cemetery.
