Morris ‘Mart’ Thomas, Jr.

Morris “Mart” Thomas, Jr., age 87, of Malad, Idaho, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2001 in the Oneida County Nursing Home of illness attributed to old age. He was born December 21, 1913, in St. John, Idaho, a son of Morris and Nellie Thomas.
He was raised and educated in St. John, and was a graduate of Malad High School. He married Maude Harris on December 20, 1932 in Pocatello, Idaho, and they were later divorced.
He was a lifelong farmer in St. John and a member of the LDS Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was an excellent craftsman fashioning many handicrafts which his shared with family and friends.
He is survived by a daughter, Sharon (Ferris) Hess, of Malad, Idaho, and a son Lamont (Janice) Thomas of St. John; nine grand-children, and 21 great-grandchildren; one sister, Erma (Cliff) Yearsley of Malad. He was proceeded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Funeral service will be held Fri-day, January 26, 2001, in the
Benson Horsley Funeral Home, 132 West 300 North, Malad, at 11:00 a.m. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday evening 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in the St. John Cemetery.
