Miriam Shirley Ricks

Miriam Shirley Ricks, daughter of Arthur and Wenonah Miller Shirley, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2015, at Orchard Park Care Center in Orem, Utah. Miriam was born September 25, 1934, in Provo, Utah. She spent her early life in Fish Haven, Idaho and attended elementary school there. She was a 1952 graduate of Fielding High School in Paris, Idaho, and attended Utah State University in Logan, Utah. She married Dale H. Ricks September 30, 1959. They lived in Lehi, Utah for many years until her health deteriorated. Miriam was very successful as an Avon Representative, being a supervisor over several other reps throughout Utah. She was an accomplished artist, producing beautiful watercolor paintings. She also was a skilled pianist. She loved to swim and collect antiques. Her home was filled with many beautiful antique items. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. At the time of her death, she was residing in the Orchard Park Care Center in Orem, Utah. She is survived by four step-children: George Ricks, Sharlene Clemens, Jeanne Thomson and Jerry Ricks, and two sisters: Bonnie (Lee) Woodland of Hurricane, Utah and Jane Ann (Owen) Ward of Malad, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Graveside services will be held Saturday, January 17 at noon at the Fish Haven Cemetery under the direction of Horsley Funeral Home in Malad, Idaho.
