Merle Elizabeth Daniels Hughes

BLACKFOOT – Merle Elizabeth Daniels Hughes, 81, died Wednesday morning at the Bingham Memorial Living Center.
She was born Jan. 30, 1906 in Malad, to George and Mary Mae Bolingbroke Daniels. She graduated from Malad High School and attended Henagers Business College in Salt Lake City for one year
On July 28, 1926, she married Walter T Hughes in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. They lived in Malad until 1950 when they moved to Blackfoot. Mr. Hughes died Nov. 25, 1972.
She was a member of the LDS Church and served for many years in the Primary. She enjoyed making quilts and doing embroidery.
She is survived by a son, Darhl D Hughes, Blackfoot; a daughter, Mrs William (Joan) Boyce, Idaho Falls; a brother, Lorin B. Daniels, St. George, Utah two sisters, Mrs. Stella Budge. Malad and Mrs. Orlean Treasure, Downey six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Leon, one sister and two brothers.
Funeral services will be II a.m. Friday at the Packham Mortuary Funeral Chapel with Bishop Carvel Kunz of the Blackfoot 11th Ward officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Malad Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to
