Our beloved mother, grandmother, grand-grandmother and friend returned home to her Heavenly Father. Merle Delene Jones Bowcutt, 88, passed away on March 06, 2010 at Lehi, Utah
She was born June 29, 1921 in Malad, Idaho to Warren M. Jones and Merle Jones. She married Henry John Bowcutt on September 14, 1920 in Malad, Idaho. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on June 27, 1963. Delene is the second of six children.
She is survived by her two children, Brent (Marilyn) Bowcutt, and Geniel (Dale) Peterse; nine grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and five siblings: Norma Audene Yearsley, Farrel Warren Jones, Margaret Marie Favero, Helene Louise Jones and “Son” Jones.
Mom was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ May 13, 1954. When she was about 40 years old, she and her husband accepted a challenge from their bishop to become temple worthy and be sealed as a family prior to their son going on a mission. She was sealed to her husband and family June 27, 1963. That same year she started working for the Church of Jesus Christ as a seamstress at the Beehive Clothing Mill making temple garments, until she retired. Mom loved touring the country with dad, visiting many of the temples. Mom and Dad spent the majority of their married life in Salt Lake: first in “Swede Town” four years, Glendale Park for 20 years, then downtown at Trevi Towers for the majority of their married life.
Mom spent many years captive to her demons. However her last years on this great earth were filled with joy. She finally found great joy in associations, arts and crafts, bingo, eating, and living. Mom’s twilight years were spent in assisted living at Wentworth in Draper and at Greenwood in Lehi. These were some of her happiest years.
Mom and her sisters were the giggle queens. Together or individually they could bring a room to laughter with their contagious giggle and sense of humor.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 12:00 noon at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, Salt Lake. A family viewing and prayer will be held at 11A:30, visitors welcome.
Mom, Grandma, rest in peace. We love you, we are so happy for you. Let us all live so we can truly say “see you later”.
“Till we meet again”.
