(September 15, 1941 – January 10, 2018)

Melvin B Facer, 76 passed away Wednesday, January 10th in Las Vegas, Nevada with his family by his side.

Mel was born September 15th, 1941 to Francis Marion and Vila Bell Facer. He was the 2nd child and grew up in Malad City with his two brothers and two sisters.

Mel quit school at a very early age to start working. This became one of his many legacies…..always such a hardworking man! He worked for many farmers, including the Evan’s Family up until he moved to Pocatello.

As a teen, Mel enjoyed his trips to Downey chasing the girls. That is where he met Nancy. Mel married Nancy Beck July 1st, 1960. They were married 57 years and raised their 3 sons, Greg, Brent and Cory. Mel had many accomplishments, but the most important thing to him was to make a good life for his family.

Mel and Nancy moved to Pocatello in 1962 and Mel started working at Kraft Foods. He worked there until opening Mel’s Conoco in 1972, establishing a solid, successful business that we now know as Mel’s Repair. He retired and sold the business to his son in 2007.

Mel loved horses! He raised, trained and raced horses for almost 50 years. Mel loved Malad and the surrounding areas and made many memories camping, hunting and fishing with family and friends.

After retirement, Mel and Nancy made Devil’s Creek Reservoir their summer home and wintered at their place in Overton, Nevada. Mel loved his wife and wanted her with him always. They worked together-played together….a true example of lifetime love and commitment.

Mel instilled a great work ethic in his sons. They will continue his legacy of hard work, values and respect.

Mel left us unexpectedly January 10th, 2018.
