Max C. Harker

Max C. Harker, 80, died January 29, 1998, at his home in Salt Lake City.

He was born October 26, 1917, in Shelley, Idaho, to Alfred Harker and Mary Edna Osguthorpe. He married Adele Thomas April 12, 1939, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Max was active in the LDS Church serving in various auxiliaries including: several Bishoprics, Ward Young Men’s President, Scoutmaster, High Priest Group Leader, Stake Missionary, Stake Sunday School Superintendent, and Temple Worker in the Salt Lake and Hawaii Temple. He was also a Sealer in the Hawaii Temple. Max was the first Master M-Men in his Stake in Idaho. President Heber J. Grant came to Idaho to present him the Master M-Men pin.

Max taught school for many years. He retired from Simpson Timber Company in 1982.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Max E. Harker (Pat); five grandchildren: Michael B. Harker (Meredith), Melissa Ann Stevens (Jeff), Kristin Noel Harker, Kari Lee Harker and Matthew B. Harker, all of Salt Lake City, Utah; one sister, Jean Johannessen, Idaho Falls, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, one sister, and two children.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 3, 1998, at 11 a.m. in the Monument Park 10th Ward. Interment was in the Samaria, Idaho, City Cemetery, where he once lived and taught school.
