Matthew Carter Self

Matthew Carter Self was born April 4, 2017 in Ogden, Utah and passed away at the Layton IHC hospital on March 20, 2019 from unknown causes.

To know Matthew was to love him. He had and infectious smile and big dimples to match.  He loved hugs and he loved people but his most favorite people were his family. Fruit snacks and Matthew were a perfect match, and when it came to food his dog Sunkiss and he were best friends because he kept her well supplied. Matthew was just starting to really talk well and would sometimes get daddy’s phone and make phone calls.  He loved to talk once he got started, and would object when he had to hang up.  His favorite show was Paw Patrol and the dog Rubble. He loved music and got excited over the song, “Hand Clap.”  His mom had to play it 5-6 times a day.  Along with music he loved to dance and shake his head and blonde curls no matter what the source of the music.  He has been known to dance to television ads and the music from baby toys, always with a big smile on his face.

He was not long on this earth but accomplished much because he spread love and joy to every corner he was in and every person he touched.

Matthew is survived by his loving parents Adam and Ashley Self and two brothers, Jordan and Jonathan, great-grandparents DeWayne and Karen Winward of Heyward, Idaho; grandparents Tony and Melody Jeppesen of Burley, Idaho; Talmadge and Cathy Self of Malad, Idaho; uncles and aunts Trent and Brittany Silvernail, Josh Jeppesen, Rick and Lorien Villucci, Brian and Tami Self, Joe and Amber Self,  Matt and Juli Self, Jared and Katy Self, Tashina Eggleston, Danette and Darren Holcombe, Kierstin and Monte Hart and Jenny Self, as well as numerous cousins.

We will miss you little man. “God be with you till we meet again.”
