Mary Yearsley John

Mary Yearsley John, 72,died Friday, April 16,1993 at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden of heart failure.

She was born December 2, 1920 in Woodruff, Idaho, a daughter of James Heber and Rosa Janet Howell Yearsley.

She married James Edgar John, July 28, 1937 in Malad, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple in February 1971. He died May 14, 1985.

She was reared and educated in Woodruff and Malad, Idaho. She lived in Portage the majority of her life, spending time in Brigham City and Bear River City.

Mrs. John and her husband owned and operated a farm in Portage. She was PTA President for one year.

She was active in the LDS Church serving in the Relief Society Presidency of Portage Ward. She also taught in the Primary and the YWMIA.

Survivors include one daughter, Bonita (Bonnie) and Robert Nelson, Bear River City; five grandchildren; two brothers and three sisters, Clifton Yearsley, Driggs, Idaho; Lorin Yearsley, Alameda, Idaho; Mrs. Royal (Maude) Jenson Smithfield; Mrs. June Harding, Heyburn, Idaho; Mrs. Victor (Carma) Peterson, Middleton, Idaho.

She was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, April 19, 1993 at 12 noon in the Bear River Ward Chapel with Bishop Dwight R. Anderson officiating. Friends may call at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 N. 100 E. Tremonton, Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the church Monday from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m.

Interment will be in the Portage Cemetery.
