Mary Webster Romrell

Malad…MARY WEBSTER ROMRELL Our sweet mother has returned to our Father in Heaven, Aug 26, 2012. at the age of 101. Mary was born July 23, 1923, in Rexburg, Idaho. During her 101 years, Mother witnessed travel by horse and buggy, bicycle, motorcycle, automobile, bus, train, and rockets into space. Possessing an extremely sharp mind, she recalls adventurous incidents with each of these modes of travel.
Her parents and grandparents served the community of Rexburg as respected church leaders, agriculturalists, politicians, Ricks College boosters and successful business individuals, teaching her posterity gratitude for pioneer heritage. At a young age, mother learned to cook, sew, and play the piano. Because her mother was always busy as Relief Society President, mom had many responsibilities because times were hard. Alongside her mother, she, too, served by tending children, playing the piano, providing meals, doing laundry and ironing, and caring for the sick and disabled.
She had six brothers, Reed, Harlow, Chet, Mark, Bert, Jay, and one sister, Lavina.
In the summers they would move to the dry farms on Rexburg Bench, where she enjoyed being outside with her father and loved working with the horses. Later in her life, she pitched hay, topped beets and harvested potatoes.
At the age of 18, just a mere 98 lbs, she married Hyrum B Romrell in the Salt Lake Temple.
She has been diligent in all her church callings including two LDS missions, one to Arizona with Hyrum, and on to Florida after Hyrums passed away. She donated her time as a pink lady at the hospital, and as a tireless genealogy library worker for many years. Many beautiful articles were painted, embroidered, or crocheted by Mary with love and generously given away.
Mary had seven children, Mary Marguerete Cramer, Salt Lake City, Utah, DeMar {Darlene} Romrell, Montpelier, Idaho, Joyce {Bill } Colton, Malad, Idaho. Dewayne Romrell, Eva { David} Nielsen} Malad, Idaho. Linda { Reed} Christensen} Tremonton, Utah. Gary {Lynae} Romrell, Rexburg, Idaho.
Mom also had 30 Grandchildren 74 great-grandchildren and 56 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hyrum B Romrell, one son, Dewayne Romrell one daughter, Joyce Colton and 5 grandchildren, and one son-in-law David Nielsen.
