Malad People Attend Funeral at Burley – 1940

Among those from Malad who attended the funeral of Mrs. Mary McKay Johnson Anderson, 46, who died at Burley Sunday were Griff Jenkins, McKinley Jenkins, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Gleed, Mrs. Elizabeth Gleed, Mrs. Racheal R. Thomas, Mrs. R. E. Clabby, Ben Stuart.

Mr. and Mrs. George Stuart, Mrs. Mime Opperman, Mrs. Sarah Fallis, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Stuart, Mrs. Bessie Johnson, Mrs. Marie Lusk, Mrs. Mary McKay and Mr. and Mrs. Jim McKay and family, Mrs. Alice McKay and son Gordon, Mrs. Jack McKay.

Griff Jenkins was a speaker at the services of Mrs. Anderson and Guy Gleed sang a vocal solo.

Mrs. Anderson died Sunday while she was on a brief vacation trip to the Sawtooth region with her husband Frank J. (Duke) Anderson, Burley manager of the Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph company.

She died in her sleep at Bald Mountain Hot Springs resort where Mr. and Mrs. Anderson had gone Saturday. Mrs. Anderson had suffered from a heart ailment some time.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Burley LDS church with J. D. Hoggan of the stake presidency officiating.

Mrs. Anderson was born July 26, 1894, at Malad. Her first husband David Earl Johnson, a prominent Burley mortician died in 1937. She was married April 15, 1939 to Mr. Anderson.

Surviving besides her husband are her mother, Mrs. Margaret McKay of Malad; two daughters Mrs. Marion McBirney who moved two weeks ago from Rupert to Salt Lake City, and Mrs. Ferne Talbot of Salt Lake City; a granddaughter, Janet Dean McBirney of Salt Lake City; two sisters and a brother, Mrs. W. V. Beckstead of Pocatello, Mrs. C. C. Johnson of Salt Lake City and James McKay Jr. of Downey.
