Mary Louise Thompson Swank

Mary Louise Thompson Swank, 69, passed away May 26, 2009 in Pocatello, ID.
Mary was born to Dean and Helen Thompson Oct. 1, 1939. She was raised in Boise where she married George W. Swank on Dec. 8, 1956. They had 8 children – 4 boys and 4 girls. The family moved to Kuna, ID where they resided for 6 years after which they moved to Utah and finally Malad, ID. Being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mary had many various callings and opportunities to teach such as in Homemaking and Primary. She also was a Ward Dance Instructor with George. She worked several places such as Clover Club, Hertz, and Jackson Elementary. Mary brought a smile to those in her ward, relatives, and friends by remembering them with a card or phone call on their birthday. She enjoyed doing family research, writing poems, road trips, spending time with family, and was an avid sports fan favoring BSU and BYU. She supported her children in whatever sport or hobby they pursued. Mary is survived by her husband of 52 years who cared for her during her years of declining health, by her sons Rex (Golda) and Max (Melanie) of Everett, WA; William (Karen) of Sunset, UT; George Joseph of Malad, Daughters Penny (LeWayne) McGrew of Saratoga Springs, UT; Tammy Turnupseed (Rick) of Boise, ID; and Mary (Dana) of Port Lions, AK, 25 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She leaves behind siblings T.S. “Bud” (Elverta); Danny; Susan (Boone) Creed; David (JoAnn) all of Boise, and Dorothy Hanau of Glendale, AZ. Preceded in death by her parents, brothers Norman (Sue); Freddy (Berniel); Jimmy; Kerry (Marie); Deane (Dorothy); sister Patsy Boutwell; daughter Roxanne Kay. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2009, at the Malad LDS Stake Chapel at 1:00 p.m. Friends may visit with the family from 11:30-12:30 p.m. at the Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N. in Malad prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Malad City Cemetery.
