Mrs. Mary J. Ashton dies at Boise

A former Malad resident, Mary Jones Ashton, 73, died February 23, 1973, of natural causes in a Boise hospital.

Funeral services were held at Pocatello Tuesday and burial was at Mountainview Cemetery.

Mrs. Ashton was born Sept. 1, 1899, at Malad to John and Margaret Caldwell Jones. She was married to John T. Ashton, July 12, 1916 at Malad, and they were later divorced.

Mrs. Ashton was a retired employee of the Troy Parisian Laundry at Pocatello.

She was a member of the LDS Church.

Survivors are sons and daughters: Dale, Columbus, Montana; Lynn, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Earl (Donna) Van Houten, Idaho Falls; Mrs. Lonnie (Vera) Miller, Boise; Mrs. Jay (Joyce) Martin, Santa Rosa, Calif.; Mrs. Robert (Utahna) Day, Granada Hills, Calif.; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brother, sisters, Robert, Burley; Mrs. Hanna Roderick, Eugene, Ore.; Mrs. Jonah (Thelma) Evans, Malad; Mrs. Eleanor Wight, Santa Monica, Calif.; Mrs. Kate Ware, Torrance, Calif.; Mrs. Keith (Marjorie) Hyde, Downey, Idaho.
