Mary E. Bennett Wight, (1901)

MALAD – Mary E. Bennett Wight, 90, long time Malad resident died Thursday in Ogden, Utah.

She was born Dec. 2, 1901, in Bothwell, Utah a daughter of John George and Elizabeth Ann Laws Bennett. She grew up and was educated in Malad. She married Lyman A. Wight, April 1, 1921, in the Logan LDS Temple. Mr. Wight died Aug. 21, 1951.

Mrs. Wight had been employed as a telephone operator for 26 years with Mountain Bell Telephone Company. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had served in various capacities such as the Relief Society, and Stake Sunday School. She did beautiful handwork and had made many quilts for her family. She also enjoyed sharing this talent with her friends and neighbors.

She is survived by one son and two daughters and spouses, D. Frank and Fern Wight, Ogden, Utah; Mary Alice and Don Williams, Smithfield, Utah; Helen and Preston Keller, N. Ogden, Utah; 16 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren; and seven great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son Lyman B. Wight, and a great grandson Brady Wight.

Funeral services will be held Monday at noon in the Malad LDS 2nd and 5th Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N., Malad, Idaho.
