DOWNEY – Marvin R. Christensen, 62, longtime Virginia and Downey resident, passed away late Sunday, October 11, 1998, in Idaho Falls of a stroke.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 15, 1998, at noon in he Virginia LDS Ward chapel.

Friends may call at Horsley’s Marsh Valley Funeral Home, 570 N. Meadowview in Arimo, on Wednesday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Arimo City Cemetery.

IDAHO FALLS – Marvin Rex Christensen, 62, longtime resident of Virginia and Downey, passed away late Sunday, October 11, 1998, in Idaho Falls of a stroke.

He was born Dec. 3, 1935 in Cambridge, Idaho, a son of Nellie Rex Christiansen and the late Milo Christensen. He was raised, educated and graduated in Downey. He later was a member of the National Guard.

He worked for the State Highway Department for 37 years. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he was a counselor in the elder’s quorum. His life’s passion was farming, trading, his family and making a good deal.

Mr. Christensen is survived by four sons, Steven (Debbie) Christensen of Arimo, Donald (Avis) Christensen of Pocatello, Rodney (Karen) Christensen of Antelope, Calif., Rance (Tiffini) Christensen of Jacksonville, Fla.; three daughters, Susan (Dennis) Lasley of Pocatello, Rhonda (Dan) Pickens of Pocatello, Robin (Michael) Zohner of Boise; his mother; three brothers, Dick (Virginia) Christensen of Virginia, Roger (Marilyn) Christensen of Soda Springs, Kurt (Margaret) of Centerville, Utah; 19 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family. He was preceded in death by his father.
