Martha Felix Howell

Logan – Martha Felix Howell, 96, Logan, Utah, died March 5, 2001, at Sunshine Terrace in Logan, of cause’s incident to age.

Martha was born February 5, 1905, in Ebnat Kappel, Switzerland, the third daughter and twelfth child of Jacob and Elizabeth Mohr Feliz. She immigrated to America with her family when she was eighteen months old. The family located in Rexburg, Idaho, where they lived until her father died at age 48 of Typhoid fever. The family then moved to Logan, Utah, where she was raised. Martha and her siblings, seven brothers and four sisters, worked very hard to support their widowed mother. She was educated in the Logan City schools and worked as a telephone operator before her marriage to James Herald Howell on September 3, 1924, in the Salt Lake Temple. They made their home on a ranch in Woodruff, Idaho, for 39 years where they raised their five children. They then sold the farm to a son, Norman, and moved to Logan were they spent their later years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and seven brothers and three sisters. She is survived by one daughter, Maurine, Reintjes University Place, Washington; four sons: Norman L. (Helen), Malad, Idaho; James Byron (Terolee), West bridge, British Columbia; Glade F. (Barbara), North Ogden, Utah; and Larry D. (Ruby), Draper, Utah; 30 grandchildren; 98 great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Clara Willmore, Logan, Utah.
Funeral services will be held today, Thursday, March 15 in the Allen-Hall Mortuary with Bishop Doug Ringle conducting. Interment will be in the Portage, Utah Cemetery.
