Margaret (Peggy) Lorraine Duerden

Margaret (Peggy) Lorraine Duerden, 86, eight year resident of Samaria, ID, passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2014, following a terrible fall. Peggy was born on May 19, 1928 in Park City, UT. Daughter of William and Doris Garns. She was raised in Southern CA and graduated from Montebello High School. She married her childhood sweetheart, Forrest Duerden on May 18, 1946 in Bell Gardens, CA. They made their home in Pico Rivera, CA where she was a homemaker and loving wife and mother. Peggy passed away on May 25, 2014. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where she loved to sing in the ward choir. She taught primary and loved to go visiting teaching. She served many years on the election boards. Peggy loved to crochet. Every child, grandchild and great-grandchild received an afgan or baby blanket crocheted by her. Everyone loved her and called her grandma, even people not related to her. She is survived by 4 children; Elaine (Ted) Driessen, Samaria, ID, Butch (Alice) Duerden, LaVerne, CA, Linda (Mike) Lange, Cottonwood, CA and Juanita (Steve) Price, Norwalk, CA., 12 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 9 great, great grandchildren and a brother, Bill Garns, Chico, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Forrest, a brother, Bob Garns and sister, Jean Nassar, and a grand daughter, Sheri Anne Richer. She will be truly missed by all who knew her. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 29 at 12 noon in the Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N. Friends may visit with the family Thursday morning from 10:30-11:45 am prior to the services.
