Margaret Jones Hughes

Margaret Jones Hughes, 78, of Malad died Thursday, August 20, (1992) in the Oneida County Hospital. She was born June 26, 1914 in Malad, the daughter of Albert Davis and Margaret Fairlie Jenkins Jones.
She grew up and was educated in Malad and was a graduate of Malad High School. She married Stephen James Hughes June 6, 1934, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had lived in Samaria for several years moving to Malad in 1976 where she had since resided.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had served as president of the Primary, Young Women’s and Relief Society. She had also been an active member in the community including 4-H. She was a member of the Utah Daughters of the Pioneers, the Home Culture Club and the Literary Club. She was an excellent seamstress and had enjoyed gardening, traveling and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband of Malad, four sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen L., Gloria and Margaret Hughes, (Stephen has been missing since 1986); Lewis Neal and Ramona Hughes, Coleville, Utah; Michael Ray and Janice Hughes, and Leslie Dean and Claudia Hughes, all of Big Piney, Wyoming; two daughters, and son-in-laws, Mrs. Dale (Carol) Daniels, Malad, and Mrs. Sheldon (Kema) Smith of Malad; two nephews who she raised, Darhl U. Hughes, Samaria, and Earl David Hughes, Ohio; 24 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. William (Pearl) Atkinson, Malad and Mrs. Fairlie Wood, Pocatello. She was preceded in death by two brothers, three sisters, and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday at 12:00 p.m. in the Malad LDS 3rd Ward Chapel. Burial was in the Samaria Cemetery.
