Margaret Crowther Harris

Margaret Crowther Harris, 82, died Monday, June 8, 1998, at the McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden of a stroke. She was born in Malad, Idaho, November 26, 1915, the first of a family of eight children. She had three brothers and four sisters; Neal, Gordon, Berthel, Valene, Lucille, Leonore and ShaRon. Her parents were Edward N. And Estella Evans Crowther – whose ancestry extends back to England and Wales.

Early in life she developed a great love for music. Her parents saw that she received training on the violin and piano. She enjoyed sharing her musical talents for school, church and community functions.

The Crowther family had a wonderful home – presided over by a devoted father and loving mother. Margaret wanted her home to be like the one in which she was raised. This lead her to pursue and receive a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics from Utah State University in Logan on June 7, 1938.

The day before Margaret graduated from college, Richard C. Harris asked her to be his wife. They were married in the Logan Temple on September 26, 1939 and they have had a beautiful 59 year romance.

They have five children – four sons and one daughter; Carl, Douglas, Steven, Janeal and Michael. Their spouses are Melanie, Judy, Kris, Dan and Sydna. They have been blessed with 34 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Her life was built around her family, and her membership and service in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
