Lyle Dean Abbott

Lyle Dean Abbott, 84, of Sun Lakes, Arizona, passed away on October 17, 2017 of natural causes. Lyle was born in Wenatchee, Washington on April 6, 1933, to Myrtle Avey Abbott and Knox Abbott. His family moved to the Spokane Valley shortly after his birth, and he spent his childhood there. Lyle was an excellent student and graduated near the top of his high school class. He went on to study at the University of Washington, and graduated with a degree in business. After graduation, he was hired by the General Telephone and Electronics (GTE) corporation and spent his entire career with the company. On November 28, 1958, he married Iris Dawn Jones in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Shortly thereafter they moved to Stamford, Connecticut to continue his career with GTE. His son Robert and daughter Melissa were both born in Stamford. He finished his career in 1984, retiring as an executive Vice President.

Lyle had a life-long love of cars, and spent many hours restoring his prize possession, a 1958 Chevrolet Bel Air. He also enjoyed playing golf, reading, and spending time with his family.

Lyle is survived by his wife Dawn of Sun Lakes, Arizona, son Robert (Lisa) of Sandpoint, Idaho, and daughter Melissa (John) of Mackay, Idaho. He was proceeded in death by both parents and sister, Paula.

Interment will be held at the Malad Cemetery on Friday, November 17, 2017. A Celebration of Life in his honor will be held by the family in Malad over Memorial Day Weekend, 2018.
