Luella Parker Smith

Robin, Idaho…Luella Parker Smith, 89, longtime resident of Robin, wife of the late Afton Armstrong Smith, passed away March 25, 2011 in Roswell New Mexico. Luella had resided in Roswell the past 10 years with her daughter and son in law Dwight and Raquel Olson. She was born December 15, 1921 in Hibberd, Idaho a daughter of Don Carlos and Amelia Blanchard Parker. Luella was raised and educated in the Rexburg area. She met Afton while in Rexburg and they later married in the Logan LDS Temple on July 6, 1942. They raised their 7 children in Robin, and Afton preceded her in death in Janaury of 2003. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints and had served in various callings through the years. She loved life, loved to laugh and her family was the joy and love of her life. She always said “Life just ain’t worth livin” unles you can laugh”. Luella enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, doing yard work and all types of handwork Luella is survived by her children and their spouses; LeGrande and Eleanor Smith; Carwin Smith; Kathleen (Jim) VanLeeuwen; Dwight (Raquel) Olson; Cynthia (Harold) Ure; Cornell Smith ; Dell (Carla) Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Afton; a brother and a sister one grandchild and two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday April 2, 2011 at 12:00 noon in the Arimo LDS Stake Chapel. Friends may visit with the Smith family on Friday evening from 6-8 pm at Horsley’s Marsh Valley Funeral Home 570 N. Meadowview Dr. and on Saturday at the church from 10:30-11:45 am.
