Loyd was born in Brigham City, Utah on May 21, 1948 along with his twin brother, Boyd, to Verlin Moon and Ona Tolman Moon. At only 2 lbs. 11 oz. Loyd fought hard in his first few months of life to survive the complications associated with his premature birth.
Hard work became a theme for Loyd throughout his life. As his parents’ only surviving son, he was raised on a farm in Cherry Creek, Idaho where he spent his time riding horses, milking cows, hauling hay, and restoring old cars.
He attended high school in Malad where he graduated in 1966. He later graduated from Ricks College, where he met the love of his life, Pamela Stoddard.
Loyd married Pam on July 18, 1975 in Provo, UT. Together they raised their family in Grace, Idaho, where Loyd worked for much of his career. He worked as a hydro power plant operator at Pacific Corp for 35 years.
He enjoyed classic cars, bragging about his grandkids, listening to music, eating his wife’s cooking, striking up conversations with everyone he met, and spending time with his beloved Pam.
Loyd is survived by his wife, Pamela Moon; his son, Jeremy (Lisa) Moon of Providence, UT; his three daughters: Jody (Kevin) Adams of Berthoud, CO, Jenny (Troy) Friden of West Point, UT, and Jamie (Tyler) Frizzell of Orem, UT, and twelve grandchildren: Peyton, Braden, Brock, Parker, Callie, Halle, Allie, Zachary, Sara, Casen, Blake, and Eva.
