Loyal (Bill) Kent Bellon

Arimo—Loyal (Bill) Kent Bellon, 79, of Arimo, Idaho passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, Idaho. Loyal was the eldest son of Loyal and Hazel Bellon born on February 1, 1932 in Roosevelt, Utah. Loyal spent his early years in the Uintah Basin. His teen years were spent in Huntsville, Utah attending high school at Weber High in Ogden, Utah. As a youth he spent a lot of time on his horse Old Champ. The adventures with Old Champ later made for great bedtime stories for his grandchildren. After graduating from high school he enlisted in the Navy where he served four years on the destroyer the USS McKean during the Korean War. On the fourth of July of 1958, Loyal met the love of his life Louise Howe. They were married in the Logan Utah temple on November 21, 1958. They started their married life in Ogden and later lived in Washington and eventually settled in Arimo in 1974.

He worked at Swift and Company meat packing plant in Ogden for 22 years. He loved working in the meat cutting trade. After his years working in meat packing plants he got his dream job of working in retail meat as he worked at Reams, and was meat manager for Thriftway, Okay Foodtown and Ridley’s at the time of his retirement in 1998. However, retirement was not a word in his vocabulary, as he went back to cutting meat at Downey Food Center and Shawn’s Market in Lava until April of 2011. He also enjoyed working for Horsley’s Marsh Valley Funeral Home for the past several years. Loyal loved working with people and always seemed to have kind comforting words for those that needed them.

He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in various church callings including MIA, counselor in two bishoprics, Bishop of Arimo ward, Stake President of Arimo Idaho Stake, a temple officiator, and family history consultant. He loved spending time with the youth of the church, especially girl’s camp.

He was a loving grandfather that loved nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren by attending activities, trick-or-treating, playing “no bears are out tonight”, being victorious at Sorry, and fishing. He loved the mountains and enjoyed spending time with his family camping.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Louise: his children, Vincent (Becky) of Sandy, Utah; Marshall (Merikay) of Roosevelt, Utah; Renae Walker (Dell) of Chubbuck, Idaho; Lorraine Wheatley (Wade) of Downey, Idaho: his brothers, Gerald (Nelda) of Riverton, Utah; Donald (Jean) Hurricane, Utah; Nolan (Jean) South Jordan, Utah, and thirteen grandchildren.
