Louise Young Perry Bird

OREM, UTAH- Our beloved mother grandmother, great-grandmother, Louise Young Perry Bird, 97, departed this life on Sunday, March 5, 2000 in Orem, at the home of her daughter, Willa Bickmore. She died of causes incident to age.
Louise was born September 29, 1902 in Yellville, Arkansas, a daughter of George Henry and Minnie Belle Young Perry. She grew up in Marion County where her family was contacted by Elders from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and converted to the gospel. She was 15 when she was baptized by Elder Matthew F. Bird on December 2, 1917.
Louise taught school after she graduated from high school and attended one year at Normal School, before she married Matthew Fifield Bird on December 25, 1921 in Yellville, Arkansas, Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on March 1 1922. He died November 1, 1964.
Matt took Louise to his homestead in Buist, Idaho, where they raised nine children: Helen Smith, and Perry (Dell) Bird, both of Ogden, Utah; Lou (David) Woodland, Concord, Calif.; Willa Bickmore, Orem, Utah; Maurine (Stephen) Douglas, Bountiful, Utah; Carol (Darrell) Johnson, Salt lake City, Utah; David (Barbara) Bird, Arbon, Idaho; Ann (Dee) Hansen, Twin Falls, Idaho (now serving a mission in Nauvoo, Illinois); Richard (Twila) Bird, Lakewood, Colo.; 40 grandchildren, 125 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is one sister, Billie (John) Prpich.
Mom was preceded in death by our Dad; her son, David, her son-in-law, Mac Smith, her brother, George Perry, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Louise spent her life serving others. She was a devoted genealogist and served in many church capacities. She graduated from Utah State University Institute of Religion.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street in Logan, Utah.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Saturday from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
