Lorraine Blaisdell Dives

Lorraine Blaisdell Dives, 88, of Malad, Idaho, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2009, in Colorado where she had been living with her daughter the past year and a half.
She was born in St. John, Idaho, February 1, 1921, to John Edward Blaisdell and Florence Julia Barber Blaisdell. She was one of ten children. Lorraine attended elementary school in St. John and traveled to Malad for Junior High and High School. She met Lorenzo “Ren” Dives and was married in St. John, Idaho, on June 15, 1938, and they made their home in Malad. Their marriage was later sealed in the Logan Temple on July 30, 1942.
Lorraine was a great homemaker and was known for her delicious cooking. She and Ren were blessed with 6 children. Lorraine was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings through the years including counselor in Young Women and Relief Society. She was also a dedicated family history consultant who spent countless hours doing genealogy and temple work for their ancestors. She participated in the Fine Arts Club of Malad. She enjoyed gardening and was very gifted in growing roses. Her greatest joy came in spending time with her large family. She is survived by 5 children, Colleen (Allen) Graves of Castle Rock, CO, Linda (Brent) Call of Saratoga Springs, UT, Larry (Cindy) Dives of Malad, ID, Nancy (David) Decker of Herndon, VA, Michael Dives of Ogden, UT; 30 grandchildren, 90 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Reed Blaisdell of Brigham City, UT, and one sister, Helen Alvarez of St. George, UT. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 5 brothers, 2 sisters, a daughter, Connie (Wayne) Budge, a grandson, David Call, a granddaughter-in-law, Laura Graves, and 4 great-grandchildren, Shay Wakley, Kelsey, Kaleb and Cameron Graves. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2009, at 1 pm at the Malad Sixth Ward LDS Church, 200 W 400 N. Friends will be able to visit with the Dives family Monday evening, December 14, 2009 from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W 300 N, and on Tuesday morning at the funeral home before the services from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm.
