Lona Jones Andersen

Lona Jones Andersen, 86, surrounded by her family, passed away at her daughter’s home in Draper, Utah on October 7, 2004, following an extended illness.

She was born July 14, 1918 in Malad, a daughter of Harvey and Catherine Jones. She attended Malad Schools and graduated from Malad High School in 1937.

In 1940, she married Raymond L. Andersen. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple.

She graduated from the University of Wisconsin’s Management School in 1974, where she was secretary of her graduating class. She was a Branch Manager at Defense Depot of Ogden for the Federal Employees Credit Union when she retired.

As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Lona served in many capacities. She served as a teacher, coordinator in the Sunday School, secretary of different organizations, and president to the Relief Society.

She was a very loving, kind and generous woman and was admired and respected by all who knew her. She was always happy and could always find the good in everyone and everything. She will be missed by all who knew her and will remain in our thoughts and prayers forever.

Lona was preceded in death by her husband, one brother and two sisters. She is survived by her sister Wanda Edwards of Malad; her children, Lewis, RaNae and Katherine; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were October 11, 2004 at Myers Mortuary Chapel, Brigham City, with interment in the Brigham City Cemetery.
