Lois Jean Porter Bybee

Downey…….Lois Jean Porter Bybee, 76, of Downey, wife of the late Darrell Lloyd Bybee, passed away Friday February 26, 2010 at the Franklin County Medical Center.
She was born January 19, 1934 in Franklin, Idaho a daughter of Orson Thomas and Lillian Margaret Burbank Porter. Lois was a graduate of Preston High School class of 1952. She married James Clifford Williams and to this marriage was born 4 children. They later divorced. Lois married Darrell Lloyd Bybee August 16, 1962. They resided in Preston for 6 years , and while there, Lois was employed at the Kings Store. In 1968 the family moved to Downey, where for many years, she was employed at the Downey Library. Lois was active in the South Bannock Fair in Downey, and had worked in receiving entries into the fair and especially was active in the fresh produce program. She was very involved in the Scouting program, especially the Cub Scouts. Due to her involvement there, she received her Wood Badge achievement recognition. Lois had a love of genealogy and had done a great work for her family in family history as well as extraction. Both sides of her family will be forever blessed with her efforts.. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and had served in various callings through the years. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers (D.U.P.) She loved all types of handwork, including crocheting, tadding, quilting and woodworking. Lois also loved the outdoors, and camping. Sh is survived by her children; Jim (Jeanie) Williams of Herriman, Utah; Brenda Lynn Guinn of Cedar City, UT.; Cindy Williams also of Cedar City, UT.; Brad (Nola) Bybee of Downey, Id.; Kevin (Kara) Bybee also of Downey. 17 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Darrell Bybee, who passed away in 2005,: an infant daughter, Berniece, an infant grandson; Tyler Williams and a sister; Francine Baird. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday March 3, 2010 at 12 noon in the Downey LDS 1st Ward Chapel, Bishop Rex Nielsen, officiating. Friends may visit with the Bybee family on Tuesday evening at the Downey church from 7-8 pm and on Wednesday prior to services from 10:30-11:45 am. Burial will follow in the Downey City Cemetery. Services are under the care and direction of Horsley’s Marsh Valley Funeral Home.
