Lloyd Robert Sweeten

Lloyd Robert Sweeten, age 64, husband, father and grandfather, passed away April 13, 1993.

He was born March 23, 1929, in Salt Lake City, to Colen H. Sweeten and Mary Sweeten. He married Elizabeth Shafer in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple July 6, 1956.

Lloyd graduated from Brigham Young University. He served in the Army, CIC, and was honorably discharged in 1953.

He was active in the 36th Ward in Ogden. He enjoyed his callings in the church, and especially enjoyed the Primary children. He served as Sunday school president, high priest group leader and home teacher.
He served as an elder in the Grand Junction/Albuquerque, N.M. mission from 1949 to 1951. He maintained his strong testimony throughout his life, and lived to serve the will of the Lord.

He is survived by his wife; sons, Stephen Lloyd and wife, Lindy Ann Sweeten of Roy, Utah, and Robert Michael of Ogden, Utah; daughters, Sharon Allen of Ogden, Utah, and Nancy Sweeten of Sunnyvale, Calif.; four grandsons and two granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, sisters, Mary Sweeten and Nellie Christophersen, and “almost his twin,” Owen Raymond Sweeten.

Lloyd loved life and though it was not always easy to help raise four children from a wheelchair for 27 years, he always loved his family and friends, and would do an extra mile to help someone he felt was in need. He accomplished more on two wheels than most people accomplish on two good legs.

He was loved by his family and friends, and will be missed here on earth, but will be remembered as someone who even though faced with adversity, always had a good sense of humor and a smile for all. Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 17, 1993 at noon in the Malad LDS Second-Fifth Ward Chapel. Burial was in the Malad City Cemetery, with military rites accorded by the American Legion Ernest W. Jones Post No. 65.
