Linda Kay Williams

Linda Kay Gleed Williams passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 22, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born to Wilford Ralph Gleed and Gloria Rees Gleed on April 17, 1951 in Malad, Idaho. She graduated from Malad High School where she was a student body officer and was chosen as royalty for many dances. Throughout the years, Kay has enjoyed the continued friendship of her classmates.

She married the love of her life, Lon Thomas Williams, on September 19, 1969, and they later moved to the Salt Lake valley to start a family. Kay and Lon were great parents to their two children, Angela Dawn and Nathan Lon. Kay loved being a stay-at-home mom and spending quality time with her children, and later her four grandchildren. Whether it was traveling to Yellowstone, Disneyland, or going to a soccer game, she loved spending her free time supporting and being with the kids.

Kay attended the Secretarial Occupations program at Idaho State University and graduated with high honors. After her children were raised, Kay was a dedicated employee and worked extremely hard at various jobs, including teaching preschool, working as a special education aide at Granger High School and working at Hartvigsen School with their files and paperwork. Kay literally loved the staff and students at Hartvigsen and she struggled with the decision to retire last fall. Kay was passionate about making a difference for each student and faculty member.

Everyone who knew Kay considered her a good friend. Her infectious laugh and her epic stories brought joy and smiles to all. She was truly an example of generosity and kindness. Kay always had a positive attitude and looked for the good in every situation. The world was a better place because of Kay and we will miss her greatly.

Kay was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Gleed, and her father-in-law, Glen B. Williams. She is survived by her husband Lon, her daughter Ange Barton (Bryan), her son Nate Williams (Angela), and her grandchildren, Arissa, Rees, Shayden, and Aybrielle. Other survivors include her mother, Gloria Gleed, mother-in-law, Helen Williams, brother, Lonny Gleed (Susan) and sister, Denece Schwartz (O’Neil), and many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 29th at the Ridgeland Ward LDS Chapel, 4251 South 4800 West in West Valley City, Utah at 11:00am. Visitations will be held at the same location, on Wednesday January 28th, from 7:00pm to 8:00pm and prior to the service from 9:30am to 10:45am. Interment will be at the Malad, Idaho City Cemetery, at approximately 3:00 pm. Condolences may be sent to www.horsleyfuneralhome.com
